HOW TO LOOK AFTER YOURSELF

There comes a time in everyone's lives, where you're moving, but you don't feel like you're living. You may think back to last week and not remember what you did. You might have just finished a crazy day at work and you haven't even taken a break.

Despite the fact that time moves quickly, after each day comes the next, so it's important to take time for yourself and this is one of the most important things that you can do. You will never get this time back and in order to be the best you, you have to check in once in a while.

My tips and advice below are things that work for me, but they may not necessarily work for you. My point is to show that there are things that you can do to feel like yourself again, and even if you aren't in need of a pick-me-up, it's still good to look after yourself.

Step one: Go to the gym.
For me, the gym is my sanctuary. As soon as I walk in, I instantly feel relaxed, soothed, and zoned out. I know that when I leave that place, that I will feel energised, with all of my worries floating away. Not only is working out great for you physically, but it has amazing benefits mentally too.

Step two: Have a bath.
You may or may not like baths, but my 'me time' consists of running a warm, bubbly bath, with some gorgeous candles burning delicately in the background. Having a bath is good for me as it forces me to take some time off from my phone and the outside world. Try something relaxing for you where you can be on your own with no distractions too.

Step three: Read a book.
Getting lost in a book is one of my favourite things to do in looking after myself. I love getting engrossed in the crisp pages that smell of libraries, and I love having something to look forward to just before I go to bed. It's a great way for me to switch my mind off and get lost in the pages of ink which tell magical tales.

Step four: Hang out with your friends.
Sometimes when I am so busy at work or catching up with everything else, when it comes to the weekend, you're exhausted, but making time for your friends and family is one of the most important things to do. Talking to people and engaging in conversation is a really good way to look after yourself as it's so important to have relationships with the people that you love.

Step five: Do what you want to do.
Now this may seem cliche, but none of the above will work unless you're doing what you want to do. If you're not happy, change it. You're only going to get one chance, so give yourself a break, and show yourself some appreciation. You won't regret it.
