Working in fashion can be daunting
and believe me, when I did it, it was a flurry of excitement but it was also
really daunting. Wondering what to wear every day was a lot of pressure because
you feel like you have to look good – but, it’s really not about that.
Working in fashion was one of the most exciting things for me as there was so much inspiration. If you’re someone that’s into fashion then seeing what everyone is wearing will be exciting for you. From the girls who dress with a different look each day, to the girls who look like they have stepped off the cat-walk – there is so many chances to have fun!
Dressing for a fashion job can be
difficult and there is no right or wrong way to do so. The first thing to
remember is that not all fashionista’s follow a trend – it’s all about style.
If you’re inspired by something then take that inspiration and feed it into an
outfit. This way you don’t have to feel silly in something that is catwalk
inspired, and you can make it more you.
If you want
to be ‘on trend’ then try not actually follow the trends if possible. It would be
a lot easier to accessorise and it will be whole lot more effective.
My go-to staple is a statement item.
My favourite thing to do is throw on a red or burgundy lip stick with a casual
outfit to dress it up. I also love throwing on some gold chunky jewellery or
some statement shoes. It’s great to throw on a pair of heels to jazz up any outfit!
Once you add any of these steps to an outfit, you’ll be good to go.
Fashion is a fast-paced industry and
drawing on everything that I have mentioned, I think the key to working in
fashion is individuality. Whatever you want to wear to work, remember to be
true to yourself with what you choose to wear. It’s important to feel
comfortable as, after all, you are at work.
Let me know what your top tips are for dressing
in a fashion job and have fun!
