Okay, okay, okay, yes it’s taken me a few years to jump onto
the Benefit They’re Real bandwagon, but I’ve been preoccupied, alright?
Slacking aside, I got a mini They’re Real mascara in my
advent calendar this month and I have a few things to say about it.
Walking past this in the shops, I was always wowed by the
advertising. You know the one – the image of the girl with nothing to
everything. Does this mascara really do what the photo claims? I don’t think so
(don’t hate me). Yes, the brush elongates the lashes and the little spikey bit
at the end is great for the outer lashes, but I’m just not seeing any magical
transformations.
My eyelashes are pretty long as it is so I look for volume
in a mascara, which I don’t think this has. Don’t get me wrong, it’s not a
rubbish mascara, it’s just better for lengthening and separating, perhaps after
you apply a thicker mascara.
The formula is pretty drying – it dries quick and isn’t wet or
runny if that makes sense. It leaves no black marks around the eyes (win!) but
it is, however, a pain in the holy world of make up to get off. It clings to
the lashes in the way that waterproof mascaras do, and is kind of almost
tube-like around the lashes.
Not a hugely bad thing – but something to take note of. All
in all, I give this mascara a 6 out of 10. Not awful, but definitely not worth
the hefty £19.50 price tag.
Hope you enjoyed!
