There is that small saying that goes something like ‘don’t
judge a book by its cover’, however admittedly, this dream-like cover of rich
swishy blues and gorgeous gold writing caught my eye and I just had to pick it
up.
The dreamy blue cover represented to me a dream-like state –
something I wanted the book to take me too, so regardless of what the book was
about, I just had to have it.
The One We Fell in Love With by Paige Toon is a book to
remember. I truly mean this when I say that. I will start off by saying I wasn’t
that impressed by the blurb and it almost wasn’t enough to make me purchase the
book. I judged too early and the small description on the back made me think
that this is just another book about love. Three girls, one guy, you get the
jist.
What I didn’t expect though, was to be taken through the
lives of three young women who are tied together through an unbreakable bond (I
won’t ruin it). Stick with Paige as she takes you through each chapter, as this
journey is one you don’t want to miss. The book becomes less about love and heartthrob
Angus, but more about the tale of three young women, and the bond of family.
The book is bitterly honest about the trials and
tribulations of family and it’s refreshing to read something so truthful about
the way we feel about our loved ones. Paige is genius in her writing style and
with a huge unexpected twist, you are taken on this journey to the bitter end.
For me, the book made me appreciate things you don’t
normally think about – my relationships with my sisters, how it’s okay to be
different and how life really is short and we should make the most of it.
This book is not one to miss. Don’t be fooled by the
girly-like cover or the blurb, this is definitely one to read, and I promise,
you’ll love it as much as I did.
